Shirley Fife

Venue 23 (Art in Shops)
Twelve Triangles, 300 Portobello High Street

Work inspired by seaside walks and abandoned or floating pieces of broken kelp and seaweed; and by Wabi Sabi “the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, incomplete, modest, humble and unconventional” (Leonard Kohen).

Shirley is an Edinburgh based emerging artist who starts her creative process by going for a walk, often by the sea, immersing herself in place and acutely aware of her surroundings. Drawn to the things that are often overlooked; the discarded abandoned objects, floating pieces of kelp and seaweed.

She is currently a student on the Contemporary Art Practice course at Leith School of Art.
