This publication came through the 5 walks, 5 trees, 5 poems project, conceived and facilitated by Jonathan Baxter as part of his ongoing Craigmillar & Communities residency with Art Walk Projects. Developed in partnership with Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust and Bridgend Farmhouse the project deepened our relationship with the natural world through encounters with 5 tree species: birch, sycamore, oak, yew and horse chestnut (within Craigmillar Castle Park).
Through a series of planting, drawing and creative writing walks and workshops, participants developed a deeper understanding of the structures and patterns that inform our relationship with trees, woodlands and the ecologies they entangle.
The publication (84-page booklet and 5 cards) is edited and introduced by Jonathan Baxter, with contributions from Helen Boden, Sandy Bennett-Haber, Sarah Gittins, Elly Kinross.
