Peter Jones presents new quirky street scenes of Portobello, daily sea-colour charts, a colour chart of springtime greens, and large scale tree portraits
and studies in charcoal, pencil and watercolour.
Recent work has included a series of large scale charcoal drawings and smaller watercolour paintings celebrating individual trees. Peter is committed to working outside with the subject in front of him, and continues to paint individual house portraits and buildings, with the current focus on St Andrews for a new book due to be published in late 2024. Closer to home, Peter has found fresh inspiration in well-known places painting new street scenes in the varied surroundings of Portobello. Buildings contain a thousand stories without telling us what they are; but in their dignified presence, patched up and time-worn surfaces we can feel a certain affinity. New work will focus on colour observations of the sea, with colour charts recording one sea colour for each day in a month. A similar approach will be applied to Springtime greens, a colour chart noting the subtle changes day by day.
