Art House 44
Rock Cottage 1 Joppa Pans
Open: 7/8 and 14/15 September
Detailed pencil drawings of weathered or discarded objects mainly from beach combing, sheds and junk yards. Also on show a selection of knitted hats using Shetland wool and traditional patterns.
Margaret uses coloured pencils to produce detailed drawings of objects found on beaches, cast up by the tides, currents and weathers; drawings of beach pebbles and stones smoothed, polished and carried by the tides and undercurrents to display the variety of different geologies found within one beach span. Pencil drawings also emphasise the rich colours of rust and weathered paintwork seen on painted driftwood and forgotten or buried objects found in drawers, sheds, ruins and junkyards. Since lockdown this Margaret has also revisited her early interest in textiles using an inheritance of Shetland wool to produce knitted hats using traditional patterns and colour combinations.
