Laura exhibits a series of large slip cast ceramic wall pieces. Taking inspiration from a recent trip to Morocco, the installations blur boundaries between tile work and sculpture.
As a trained ceramicist, Laura Campbell is drawn to the tactile qualities of clay and produces both functional and sculptural work. After a significant period away from creating and making, she spent the last couple of years re-engaging with the material becoming immersed in the technicalities and making processes of functional ceramics.

She completed the Contemporary Art Practice Course at Leith School of Art in 2023. This allowed Laura to focus on conceptual work and enabled her to develop ideas in a variety of media including sculpture, photography, model making and film as well as continuing to utilise clay. She is currently exploring wall decoration and how tiled pieces can sit between the functional and sculptural. Laura recently completed a tiled piece for Portobello Town Hall from a community Crowdfunder initiative.
Laura was awarded a BA (Hons) Design and Applied Arts (Ceramics) and a PGdip Design and Applied Arts (Ceramics) Edinburgh College of Art.
