Laura is primarily a ceramic artist and designer, but also occasionally works in mixed media and film/photography. She will be exhibiting a group of functional wares alongside some of her more recent sculptural pieces.
About As a trained ceramicist, Laura Campbell is drawn to the tactile qualities of clay and enjoys mainly working in this medium producing both functional and sculptural pieces. After a significant period away from creating and making, she spent the last couple of years re-engaging with the material becoming really emersed in the technicalities and making processes of producing functional ceramics. She is currently engaged in a period of further study at Leith School of Art having been accepted onto the Contemporary Art Practice Course (2022-23). This has allowed Laura to focus more on conceptual work and enabled her develop ideas in a variety of media including sculpture, photography, modelmaking and film as well as continuing to use elements of clay in her work. Currently she is exploring themes of the passage of time in relation to mental health/physical health.
Laura studied for a Ba (Hons) Design and Applied Arts (Ceramics)–Edinburgh College of Art followed by a PG dip Design and Applied Arts (Ceramics)–Edinburgh College of Art
She has recently completed the Contemporary Art Practice course at Leith School of Art.
Her functional ware is currently stocked at Cove, Portobello and The Found Gallery, Dunbar.
