Sun 7th, 11am: Mini picture book workshop with Kasia Matyjaszek
Kasia will lead a playful workshop where you will be invited to create characters, settings and stories of your own mini picture book. Free, no need to book.
All weekend: Refreshments and crafty play.
Tea, coffee and cake available in the garden for a donation to Refugee Sanctuary Scotland. Also clay and art materials to play with for adults and kids.


Vibrant and dynamic illustrations and prints inspired by the themes of childhood, play and nature.
Kasia is a Portobello-based children’s book author and illustrator with over 15 years’ experience of working in illustration and publishing. Kasia’s work explores themes of childhood, play and nature. Her illustrations are lively and expressive, filled with joy, movement and sense of playfulness. She enjoys experimenting with handmade expressive marks, prints, rubbings and ink, as well as digital methods.

She gained a Masters in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art, where she now teaches in the Illustration Department. Kasia also runs art workshops for children and young people including Porty Art Classes for Teens here in Portobello. Her work has been shortlisted for the Macmillan Book Prize and Clairvoyants Competition. Picture book ‘The Fourth Bonniest Baby in Dundee’ written by Michelle Sloan and illustrated by Kasia was shortlisted for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize and gifted to every P1 pupil in Scotland.
