Karl is a figurative artist who has also moved into landscape. He specialises in colourful paintings, sometimes acrylic on canvas but mainly made on cut card from which he can handpress prints. New works will be available, mainly based on people and places he has travelled to for work, including France, Canada, Portugal, Iceland, Finland and at home in Scotland. He likes to capture the character/mood of people and places through representation and abstraction. Over his 10 years as an artist, he has been selected for open shows at the RSA, VAS, PAI and RGI and has exhibited in Edinburgh, Borders, Ullapool, Perth, Pittenweem as well as annually at Porty Artwalk with his open studio. Karl’s wide choice of gift cards with images or details of his work are always popular.
About Karl went to art school in 2012 after working in a variety of jobs since he left school at 18. He has been married and has 2 married children living nearby and 2 grandchildren. Having taken a couple of years out of painting during 2020/21 whilst caring for his mother, he resumed making in January. Karl has had work accepted for the Paisley Art Institute open show in the Glasgow Art Club in Nov 2022 for which he won a prize and will have a large solo show at House for an Art Lover from Oct to Dec 2023.
