Art House 32
Address: 20 Brunstane Road
Open: 7/8 and 14/15 September
Judy explores the coastal area of East Lothian in oil or pastel, reflecting the underlying moods of sea and sky. This contrasts with works of flowers and animals in watercolour.
As an artist from East Lothian, Judy started painting when her children needed her less, giving her more time to explore her creative side. She has taken classes at Leith School of Art, Edinburgh College of Art, the Paintbox School of Art, the Poldrate Mill and studied with Damian Callan and Anna Wimbledon. Mostly she has focussed on still life, particularly flowers, but has recently been drawn to painting coastal scenes, in different weather and times of day. The changing seas and sky have offered Judy new challenges and inspirations, and painting these has helped her to explore the beauty of the world around her. She has experimented with watercolour, oil, acrylic and pastel. Trying new mediums has enriched Judy’s artistic journey and inspired her to push the boundaries and evolve as an artist.
Judy belongs to several art groups and exhibits regularly in local art exhibitions in Dunbar, Haddington, East Linton, Gifford, Cockburnspath, The Hub at Humbie, The Cancer Research Exhibition Edinburgh, the Pittenweem Art Festival, and Porty Art Walk.
