An introduction to Jenny’s work as a graphic recorder or ‘live illustrator’. She will share the process of creating visual summaries from events on diverse topics – from AI in education to the impact of flooding in Scotland. Free, no need to book.

Jenny is an illustrator who makes prints combining watercolour drawings of British birds and animals with vintage maps. She will also this year share an insight into her work as a live illustrator, or graphic recorder.

In addition to producing prints of birds animal and plants in watercolour and pencil, in recent years Jenny’s work as a graphic recorder, or visual notetaker, has expanded to become her central focus. Working with a wide cross section of organisations and agencies including The Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh University, Glasgow University, The James Hutton Institute and Nature Scot, she listens and draws at events, creating a visual summary that can be used to share information and demystify complex concepts.

To mark this transition, in this 10th year Art Walk Porty festival, Jenny will be showing a small number of new bird prints, as well as having a studio sale of prints from across the years. She will share and talk about her graphic recording work, which tackle diverse and difficult contemporary topics including among many others – flood resilience in Scotland, mental health and climate change,AI and children’s rights.
