Portobello – Cultivating Connections Walk with Annie Lord

Walk

Location: Art Walk Hub

Date/Time: Sat 2 September 2pm to Sat 2 September 4pm

The Neighbouring Orchard is a living artwork by Annie Lord of 160 apple trees planted across coastal Edinburgh and East Lothian commissioned by Art Walk Projects. Join Annie to celebrate the launch of a new series of Walking Maps designed by artist David Lemm that visit a number of the planted trees.

Walk 1: Portobello – Cultivating Connections

We’ll take a leisurely walk to visit some of the apple trees, with readings by Annie along the way. We’ll consider the impact of community growing in Portobello and its connection to a wider ecosystem; from the earthworms that mulch the soil, to the moths that take shelter in the trees’ leaves.

Everyone will take away a limited-edition handheld artwork.

Both walks are a 2-hour walk with plenty of pauses along the way. We’ll cover pavements, footpaths and some uneven ground.
