An exhibition celebrating artwork produced by the Craigmillar Art Club based at the Thistle Foundation. Mediums include watercolour, sketching, screen printing, collage, cartoons, illustrations and other visual arts.
Craigmillar Art Club is a community group set up by Connecting Craigmillar (part of the Thistle Foundation), in partnership with local GP Link workers. It is a well-being group concentrating on art for enjoyment, expression, socialising and skills development. It is for people living in the Greater Craigmillar area. It is a mixture of ‘peer-led’/self-directed and professional artists facilitating weekly sessions.
Experienced artists and crafts people from the local community in the group support and encourage all members of varied abilities and artistic skills to express themselves and create art together. There is a supportive spirit of skill-sharing at each session.
We believe we can make a valuable contribution through visual arts in the community taking pride in themselves as unique, creative beings. We seek to overcome financial and health barriers to engagement with art and exhibition opportunities. The group is a social driver encouraging people to take part in art together which they wouldn’t have done at home on their own.
