Jenny make prints that combine vintage maps and found imagery with hand drawn and watercolour birds and animals. She regularly works to commission producing bespoke pieces, as well as producing short runs of giclee prints and cards.
“All the work I make starts as original pictures in watercolour and pencil. I collect old Ordnance Survey maps, and inspired by the shapes and contours in the maps, I draw animals and birds that are native to the area shown. There is something lovely about a bird shaped by a map, which is a birds eye view of the world.”
Jenny studied Fine Art at Edinburgh University and College of Art graduating in 2002 and later went on to complete an MA in Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts in 2009. She has since worked as a freelance illustrator in London and Edinburgh. Her work can be found in a number of small shops and galleries nationally, and has been featured in Ikea. She now lives and works in Portobello.
