Screenprints of collections of objects gathered by the artist’s family over decades: button boxes to toy boats, small objects worth little in monetary value but of larger consequence on a personal level.
In Jenny's current body of work, she is looking at collections of objects: from her Grandma’s button box, to old tools used by her Great Grandfather to make toys for generations of her family, through to the shoes her daughter has worn growing up. The patina these objects acquire over time, their randomness when gathered in groups, their flaws, these objects say something about the owner without being an overt portrait of that person. They remind Jenny of the kind of collections often seen in small local museums: small collections of often disparate, strange objects, worth little in terms of monetary value but of larger consequence on a personal level.
Jenny studied MA (Hons) Fine Art at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art and then a Postgraduate MFA at Edinburgh College of Art. Her practice is primarily as a printmaker and painter, and she has won awards in both media. She exhibits widely in the UK and teaches at Leith School of Art.
